Under 7's Vs South Elmsall United

Game 1 Ferrybridge 3 South Elmsall United 1

Ferrybridge got off to a slow start in this weeks away game against Elmsall on what can best be described as an unpredictable pitch this didn’t help our passing game and after going close on numerous occasions Elmsall took the lead following a mix up in our area, the lads kept their heads up and the powerful running of Oliver Scales, Joe Wilson and James Ford Ferry earned themselves a free kick just outside the area Scales stepped up and put the ball neatly into the corner to make it honors even going into the break, the boys were all fired up in the second half Paul English Josh Mosby and Luke Wilson were determined not to be beaten again and on the few occasions Elmsall broke through Wilson and Mosby cleared up setting Ferry off again, continued pressure from Ferry led to a number of corners and this eventually told with an excellent ball in from Ford, Scales had it cleared off the line but full of running Joe Wilson followed up to smash the ball home, Harry Blackburn was a constant threat up front earning corner after corner running the defenders all over, another perfectly put in ball by ford allowed Scales to finish at the far post, Jae Priest came on late and some excellent foot work and got him past two defenders only for the keeper to save low.

Goals: Scales (2), Joe Wilson (1)
MotM: Scales/Joe Wilson

Game 2 Ferrybridge 4 South Elmsall United 0

The rest of the lads were keen to get on in the second game and lined up with Ford in goal, Declan Baker and Paul English at the back, a midfield trio of Thomas Lynam, Harry Jones and Jae Priest with Regan Walton the lone front man, Ferry dominated this game right from the off with Jones covering every part of the field Baker and English snuffing out any breaks, the experience of Priest helped the lads keep some shape the running of Lynam up and down the flank kept ferry’s momentum going forward, Walton, Priest, Jones and Lynam all went close playing up hill, the second half kicked off and the slope allowed Ferry to keep the ball in the Elmsall half, English moved into attack and quickly made the difference grabbing the first of a 6 minute hatrick, Jones, Lynam and Priest kept Ferry moving and excellent setup play from Priest put in Jones to fire neatly home the pressure continued when Lynam put English through to grab his second, his 3rd came soon after when setup by Jones and Priest.

Under 6's Vs Tingley Tigers
Sunday 04 May 2008 - 14:18:00 in Match Report

Under 6's Vs Tingley Tigers
Game 1

We've gone and done it!  Despite a severly depleted squad due to illness we won our first game against Tingley Tigers 2-1 in damp conditions at Tingley.  Despite dominating the first half Ferry were really unlucky to go in at half time 1-0 behind due to the one and only Tingley attack.  After the break Ferry really came out with purpose and an excellent finish by Owen Frow brought Ferry level.  Soon after the kick off another flowing move involving Rio Jackson, Finlay Gill and Elliott Rhodes was excellently finished off by Billy Lane to make the score 2-1.  Ferry then came under pressure for the final minutes of the match but some resolute defending by Mason Robinson and Man of the day Rio Jackson plus some excellent glove work by Jordan Guthrie kept Tingley at bay for our first win.

Game 2

The second game was just as close as the first but unfortunately we we're beaten 3-2.  Tingley raced into a 2-0 lead before Ferry really had chance to get going.  2 excellent goals from Rio Jackson (one of them a stunning free kick) brought Ferry level only for Tingley to again take the lead and make it 3-2.  There were outstanding performances in goal from Ben Bamforth and Elliott Rhodes with excellent defensive efforts coming from Mason Robinson, Luke Edley and Finlay Gill.  In Midfield Jordan Guthrie and Owen Frow worked tirelessly whilst up front Billy Lane and Rio Jackson never stopped trying.

Well done lads!!  It's really nice to get that first win under our belts.
